Recent news reports indicate that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) may begin to target unaccompanied children. Read more about this development and other immigration law and policy changes in CILA’s blog post, “Trump Administration 2.0 Immigration Changes.”
It is important for immigrants, including unaccompanied children, to know their rights. As a result, CILA has created materials to help lawyers, legal staff, and social services staff working with unaccompanied children.
- CILA created a new youth-facing resource, “Protections & Information for Unaccompanied Children and Youth” in English and Spanish. This resource can be found on CILA’s youth webpage, which is also available in English and Spanish. Advocates can share the youth webpage and this new resource with their clients who are unaccompanied children.
- CILA also created a compiled list of resources on Know Your Rights (KYR) and safety and family preparedness resources. Practitioners can review this material and determine what resources to share with their clients. You will need a free CILA account to access this resource. Sign up for an account here.
- Additionally, CILA created a resource with a compiled list of resources for legal service providers on motions to reopen, stays of removal, and bond hearings. You will need a free CILA account to access this resource. Sign up for an account here.
