Half-Day CLE Training Description:

The ABA Children’s Immigration Law Academy (CILA) invites you to a complimentary half-day continuing legal education (CLE) training, “Pro Bono Representation of Unaccompanied Immigrant Children.” Join us on Friday, May 1, 2026 in downtown Houston.

This training is intended for those who are interested in learning more about children’s immigration law and want to get involved to help unaccompanied immigrant children. The training will feature four presentations and cover issues such as current immigration law and policy trends affecting unaccompanied children, common forms of humanitarian legal relief sought for unaccompanied children, ethical considerations when working with a child client, and ways to get involved to support children in the Houston community who need pro bono legal assistance. With the changing the landscape, now more than ever, immigrant children need an advocate by their side.

CILA hosts a platform, Pro Bono Matters for Children Facing Deportation, featuring available pro bono opportunities for immigrant children across the nation. CILA and local organizations will share opportunities for pro bono attorneys to get involved to help unaccompanied children with their immigration cases in the Houston area.

Thank you to the Houston Bar Foundation for your support. This training, “Pro Bono Representation of Unaccompanied Immigrant Children” was made possible by a grant from the Houston Bar Foundation. More information on the Houston Bar Foundation and its Fellows Program can be found at www.houbf.org.
