Event Details

LIVE via Zoom-Registration Link HERE

Advocates serving unaccompanied children face many challenges, including negative public narratives, frequently shifting laws and policies, systemic barriers, and complex cases. These challenges can take a physical and mental toll on legal and social services professionals dedicated to serving high-needs clients in a fast-paced world. This webinar is designed to provide a space to acknowledge these challenges, as well as practical tools and insights to help advocates build resilience and maintain their well-being.

Join CILA’s Managing Social Worker Marissa Barrera and Threshold GlobalWorks Director Laurie Leitch, Ph.D., an expert in trauma and resilience. Dr. Leitch will discuss her organization’s Social Resilience Model (SRM). The SRM is a collective, skills-based approach to improving individual and group well-being and resilience. It harnesses the tension between current realities and emerging futures by teaching neuroscience-based skills to heighten attention, shift patterns of dysregulation, and promote capacity for individual stability and generativity.

Together we will explore:

  • The neuroscience of trauma and stress, including how it impacts the nervous system and overall well-being.
  • Practical strategies to regulate the nervous system, build personal resilience, and foster resilient teams.

Participants will leave the webinar with a better understanding of how to manage the impact of stress on their work, techniques for building resilience, and tools to enhance both personal and community well-being.

Who Should Attend:
Advocates working in immigration, especially those supporting unaccompanied children, who are seeking practical ways to manage stress and sustain their well-being.

Speakers:

  • Laurie Leitch, Ph.D., Director, Threshold GlobalWorks
  • Marissa Barrera, Managing Social Worker, CILA

Please note that ABA CILA will not seek state bar accreditation of this training as a CLE.
