Webinar Description:
The ABA Children’s Immigration Law Academy (CILA) invites you to join us as experts from the Immigrant Defenders Law Center (ImmDef) and St. Mary’s University School of Law provide an introduction to addressing juvenile delinquencies and criminal convictions in unaccompanied children’s cases. We will provide information on what is considered delinquent conduct and the potential impact of delinquent or criminal conduct on a youth’s immigration case, including how to analyze the inadmissibility grounds for common relief options, such as Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS). The training will also provide some general information about juvenile records.
This training is geared towards anyone at a legal service provider who works with unaccompanied children, including attorneys and legal staff. All are welcome!
- Marion (“Mickey”) Donovan-Kaloust, Legal Services Director, ImmDef
- Erica Schommer, Clinical Professor of Law, St. Mary’s University School of Law
- Amelia Friedman, Staff Attorney, CILA
The ABA will seek 1.25 hours of CLE credit in 60-minute states, and 1.5 hours of CLE credit for this program in 50-minute states.
