When at First You Don’t Succeed… Strategies when USCIS Denies a Petition or Application

Webinar Details

This presentation was part of day 1 of the 5th Annual Symposium.

This presentation will cover how to respond when U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) denies a client’s petition or application. We will discuss different advocacy strategies depending on the reason for the denial and the type of underlying application or petition. The training will explain the difference between a motion to reopen, a motion to reconsider, and an appeal of a USCIS decision. Additionally, the training will dive into advocacy surrounding federal district court complaints. This training will help advocates identify and choose next steps after a denial. The focus will be on deciding what actions to take.
