This presentation was part of day 2 of the 5th Annual Symposium.

This presentation will cover implementing trauma-informed practices when working with and advocating for children in removal proceedings and other legal settings. Focusing on internal practices within your own practice and personal life (the Inside), and the external settings such as in the courtroom, meetings with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and interface with other agencies, and preparing for testimony and evidence (the Outside). We will discuss core trauma concepts and how the brain operates. We will aim to provide an interactive and demonstrative presentation. This presentation approaches the challenges of this work through the lens of developing and implementing a strategic approach that focuses on strengthening protective factors.
