CILA Creates New FAQ on Registration Requirements for Unaccompanied Children

The information in this blog post is current as of September 22, 2025.

CILA created a new resource to answer frequently asked questions about the registration requirements for noncitizens who are in the United States for more than 30 days and how they apply to unaccompanied children. The resource is called, “FAQ: Federal Government’s New Registration Requirements & Unaccompanied Children,” and is available on CILA’s website here.

The resource covers when a child may be already registered and the re-registration requirements that apply when a child turns 14 years old. It also includes practice tips for completing the Form G-325R, Biographic Information (Registration). We hope that this resource helps advocates working with unaccompanied children to better understand these requirements and how they can advise their clients about the need to comply.

You will need a free CILA account to access the resource. Sign up for an account here. Contact CILA at cila@abacila.org if you need additional assistance accessing this resource.
