The team at the American Bar Association’s Children’s Immigration Law Academy (CILA) reflected on this past year and shared CILA highlights in the CILA 2023 Annual Report. Take a look at the annual report and read about what CILA worked on this past year. With this annual report, CILA celebrates all that we have accomplished and look forward to in 2024!  

CILA is a capacity building organization supporting attorneys, legal staff, social services staff, and pro bono attorneys working with immigrant children. Thank you to the advocates working hard to support unaccompanied children and thank you to everyone who has supported CILA and collaborated with us this past year.

Get Involved with CILA

  • CILA Trainings:
    • CILA regularly offers trainings on immigration law and working with immigrant children. Check our calendar to see what is coming up.
    • We also post recordings of many of our trainings to the CILA website, so these materials can be viewed when you need them most. 
  • CILA Resources:
    • View CILA resources on our website.
    • If you want access to more CILA resources, create a free account. The process is simple.  
  • CILA Technical Assistance:
    • CILA offers both legal technical assistance (TA) and social services TA to advocates working with unaccompanied children nationwide.
    • Learn more about what CILA offers for both legal TA and social services TA on CILA’s website. You can enter your questions directly on those webpages.  
  • CILA Working Groups & Listservs:
    • CILA offers 6 working groups on different topics: (1) Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), (2) Houston SIJS, (3) children’s asylum law, (4) detained unaccompanied children, (5) social services, and (6) pro bono coordination. All meet on a quarterly basis. Check them out here.
    • CILA hosts 4 listservs on different topics. Read more and sign up for a listserv.
