CILA Updates Resources on SIJS

CILA is pleased to share that the CILA team recently updated three resources on Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS). The resources are short explainers that provide the basics of SIJS. They are helpful resources for advocates, pro bono attorneys, and stakeholders alike.

(1) SIJS Overview Cheat Sheet: A 2-page overview of SIJS including information on SIJS eligibility requirements, key citations, and information on the process.

(2) Jurisdiction Requirements under the UCCJEA in Texas: A 2-page explainer of jurisdiction requirements under Texas state law, including a flowchart to help you determine whether jurisdiction requirements are met.

(3) Quick Reference Guide – Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and EB-4 Immigrant Visa Availability: A 1-page resource answering the common question of what does it mean when visas are currently “unavailable” for children and youth with SIJS.

The three resources are all available on CILA’s website under “Additional Resources,” located here. If you do not have the password to access the resources, please feel free to reach out to the CILA team at cila@abacila.org.
